David C. Lewandowski

October 15, 1970 — October 2, 2022

Hewitt, Texas

On October 2nd, our son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, David Charles Lewandowski, was taken unexpectedly from us to be with the Lord. As heartbreaking as this is for our family, we find comfort in knowing how blessed we are to have had a fleeting 51 years with him.  A visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, October 14, 2022, in the Chapel of Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Drive, Waco, Texas.   The funeral service, Celebration of Life, will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 15, 2022, in the Chapel of Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Rev,. Brian Coates officiating.  Interment will follow in Waco Memorial Park.  For those unable to attend, the service will be live streamed on this page from www.gracegardensfh.com

David was born in Newton, New Jersey, October 15, 1970, and moved to Woodway when he was nearly three years old. He graduated from Waco High School in 1989 and earned his AA from McLennan Community College. He went on to work for Romark Logistics as an Operations Manager until 2016, a remarkable 16 years with the company. For the past nearly 6 years he has helped build and grow BYOT (Bring Your Own Tools) into a multi-state, locally owned and operated business as their Chief Operating Officer. He dreamed of someday moving to the island of St. Croix and opening a location there to aid the island's community. He was very proud of what he and his BYOT family have been able to accomplish together.

To his friends, he was known to be caring, smart, funny, helpful, and someone you could always count on. His playful spirit was infectious and always brought smiles to everyone around him. He had an energetic heart and was always up for a party. Some of his favorite things included watching old westerns and NASCAR, listening to everything from Kenny Chesney to KISS, caring for his multiple fish tanks, and eating at Kitok, Te’Jun, and BJ’s. He enjoyed being outdoors, cooking, and being with his family. He especially loved the beach, particularly St.Croix, and dreamed of spending his retirement there. He started many new family traditions for his grandchildren in his time on Earth such as Sunday morning pancakes and family movie nights at the drive-in with old bay popcorn.

He is survived by his parents Charles and Barbara, brothers Ted McLaughlan and Daniel Lewandowski, children Daylan, Caleb, and Hannah Lewandowski, Katie Gebbert Young, grandson Lucas, step-children Casey and Kristan Garrett and their children, fiancée Kimberly Thomas and her children, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, for those desiring, the family has suggested Meals on Wheels, Fuzzy Friends Rescue, or Waco Animal Shelter for memorial contributions, in his name.
