David Hodges

November 16, 1963 — October 16, 2021

Crawford, Texas

David Glenn Hodges, 57, of Crawford, Texas passed away Saturday, October 16th, 2021.  A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 27th, at Crawford Methodist Church, 375 W 6th St, Crawford, TX with Rev. Robyn Young officiating.

David was born November 16, 1963 in Temple, Texas. The son of Donald W. and Karen (Mappe) Hodges.  David was a renowned radio voice of the community and surrounding areas.  Proud recipient of two Texas AP Best Sportscaster Awards, David delighted and excelled at bringing play by play into our homes through radio.  From his earliest start for the Gustine Tigers and Comanche Indians to Brownwood Lions, Stephenville Yellowjackets, Goldthwaite Eagles, Harker Heights Knights, Belton Tigers, WPHL Waco Wizard Hockey, and Baylor Bear football, baseball, tennis and men’s and women’s basketball, he was there.  If he wasn’t heard over the air, it was only for being heard in the arena or over the Brazos River as the Public Announcer of these events.  Apart from sports, David enjoyed being a voice of politics where he produced and hosted an outlet of logic and reasoning.  In his free time, he was a devoted Dallas Cowboy fan, an avid collector of Batman memorabilia, and a loving father.

David is preceded in death by his father, Donald W. Hodges and wife Allison Mullens Hodges.

David is survived by daughter, Stephanie Green, husband Jesse Green, son Troy Hodges, mother Karen Crockett, grandchildren Sophia, Nikolai, Samantha, and Violet; brother Scott Hodges, sister-in-law Jennifer Hodges and nephews Lanam Hodges, Brady Hodges and Kade Hodges; uncle LeRoy Mappe Jr and “Ace” the dog.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Crawford Methodist Church, your local sports team of choice, or library in your area.
