David Lee Arneson

July 5, 1939 — November 14, 2023

Waco

On November 14, 2023 David Lee Arneson went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is very much missed by his family and many friends. A memorial service will be at Sunday, December 3, 2023 at 2:30pm with Pastor Grant Kaul officiating at Grace Gardens Funeral Home in Waco, TX.

David was born July 5, 1939 to Orville and Mildred Arneson in Nevada, Iowa. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 55 years, Gail, and their two daughters Jenna and Joanna and their husbands Matt and Mike. David has 10 grandchildren, Madison, Jacob, Malorie (her husband Joe), Abigail, Micah, Mason, Montana, Malachi, Malea and Maverick. He has seven great grandchildren, Caleb, Noah, Andrew, Aiden, Asher, Clara, and Asa. David is survived by his sister Diane and her husband Richard.

David had a quick wit and dry sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh. He was a loving and faithful husband, a man who loved his girls and their families. Nothing pleased him more than spending time with family and friends.

He was known as “Papa” to his family. David was fun and enjoyed playing games, whether at a table, or shooting hoops with the kids, playing cornhole, throwing a football or catching a baseball, he was there. Since the early 70’s he spent many hours reading stories and going on walks with his “kids”.

David and Gail gave their lives to Christ in 1977. It was in the church where they built lifelong relationships with friends that they still pray and meet with monthly. David cared deeply for these friends. The men sharpened each other, they did life together. He loved the church, and loved serving in many different areas, mostly behind the scenes.

David was a skilled architect and was self-employed for the majority of his 52-year career. He found great satisfaction in what he did and enjoyed the people he worked with and for.

Later in life he and Gail a shared an interest in travel and exploring the world with family, friends and by themselves. In 2015 David joined a team from church going to India to share the Gospel.

David was deeply loved and we were deeply loved back. He grew stronger in his relationship with the Lord year by year as God continued to soften his heart and work in his life. Although we miss him terribly, we know he is with his Lord, whole and well, laughing and praising God in Heaven.

The Arneson family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for all the love and care that you our friends have shown all of us through these many years. We have truly been blessed by you. And to our amazing new friends, we thank God, he brought us to Texas.

You are a gift.
