Darrell “D.J.” Wayne Jones Sr., 53, of Lorena, passed away suddenly Sunday, June 15, 2014 at his residence. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 21st at Crossroads Fellowship Church, 1861 Church Rd in McGregor. Burial will follow at Flatt Cemetery.
D. J. was born June 25, 1960 in Waco to R. A. Jones and Annie Lou Kurtz Jones. He grew up and graduated from high school in Chilton. He met the love of his life, Lisa Waldschmidt, at Whataburger in 1985 and they were married in 1988. Together they lived and raised their family in Lorena. D. J. worked at Certain Teed PVC of Waco for twenty nine and a half years and more recently at Owens-Illinois. D. J. loved his wife and kids, but had a special place in his heart for his grandbabies. He was an awesome PawPaw.
He was a “converted” Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed watching the games with Lisa. He enjoyed going to the deer lease in Hamilton and hunting with his friends. D. J. loved to ride his Harley and go on long road trips with all friends. He had many brothers who he rode with, worked with, hunted with and shared his life with. Each had a special place in his heart and was considered his extended family. D. J. will be forever remembered for his compassion for others and his generosity.
He was preceded in death by his father; and sister, Pam Jones.
D. J. is survived by his wife and best friends of 29 years, Lisa of Lorena; his mother, Annie DeLeon; son, Darrell Wayne “Little D. J.” Jones Jr and wife, Holly of Waco; daughter, Megan Brackens and husband, Jermine of Waco; five grandchildren, Hayven Jones, Jaylen Brackens, Journie Jones, Ryder Jones and Jakobe Brackens all of Waco; mother and father in law, Elmer and Nova Waldschmidt of Waco; brother in law and brother in heart, Mark Waldschmidt and wife, Traci; nieces, Kelci of Hewitt and Kylar Thompson and husband, Mark of Grain Valley, Missouri; brother in law, Steve Waldschmidt and wife, Diane; nieces Chelsea, Sara and Caroline all of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; brothers, Joey DeLeon and Michael DeLeon; sisters Christina Passmore of Hamilton and Cheryl Yates and husband, Sam of Waco; and niece, Tiffany Jones of Dallas.
