Cynthia Faye “Cindy” Claridy

January 26, 1958 — June 28, 2022

Mexia, Texas

Cynthia “Cindy” Faye Claridy, 64, of Mexia, passed peacefully from this life the morning of June 28th. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during her last days. Cindy was born on January 26, 1958, in Hillsboro, Texas to Carrol “Bud” and Wanda (Burgamy) Claridy. She was the fourth of five children.

Cindy experienced tremendous joy and happiness in her life, and was loved dearly by her mama and daddy, as well as her entire family. Even though she was unable to speak for most of her life, she communicated with those she loved through smiling, laughing and clapping. Birthday parties, balloons and grocery ads made Cindy the happiest girl. She loved spending time with her family, and the holidays were always a special time for her – surrounded by her loved ones and delicious food. Cindy enjoyed being outside and found a special joy in swinging in the backyard during get-togethers. She would get especially excited to see her daddy fire up the grill – hot dogs were always a big hit. She spent many days on her daddy’s pontoon boat cruising Lake Whitney with her family, drinking her favorite soda while listening to music. At a young age Cindy developed a love for music. Cindy’s great taste in music ranged from old country and western tunes that she grew up on, classic rock and R & B, to Kenny G – her all-time favorite!

Cindy thrived at the Mexia State Supported Living Center for many years. She was a loved and cherished by her extended family at the center and was affectionately called “best friend” by one of her caregivers. Cindy loved dress up days with her friends there and putting on makeup. On her way home for regular weekend visits with her mama, she loved stopping at McDonalds – her favorite eatery - for a cheeseburger, French fries, and Coca-Cola.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Wanda Claridy, of Waco; brother in-law Mark “Duke” Copeland, of Waco; nieces, Sarah Copeland, of Waco, Amber Hall, of McGregor, Robyn Claridy-Miga, of Austin, Lauren Claridy, of Waco,; nephews Beau Copeland, of Waco, Jason Claridy, of Gatesville, Brian Claridy, of Tacoma, WA, and Donathan Claridy, of West; and many other friends, family members and loved ones who knew and cherished Cindy.

Cindy was welcomed in heaven by her daddy, Carroll “Bud” Claridy, whom she missed dearly; brothers, Howard “Gene”, Don, and David Claridy; and sister, Carol (Claridy) Copeland.

Special thanks to everyone at the Mexia State Supported Living Center who treated Cindy as part of their family, and Providence Hospice who cared for Cindy during her last days. She was truly surrounded by love and support every day of her life and will be missed dearly by all – especially her mama.
