Curtis Rasberry

April 12, 1931 — September 30, 2010

Curtis Ray Rasberry, age 79 of Waco, left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father, Thursday September 30, 2010, at his residence with his family by his side. Funeral services will be 1PM Monday October 4, 2010 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7PM Sunday October 3, 2010 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.

Curtis was born April 12, 1931 in Ackerly, Texas to Don and Mary Rasberry. He graduated from Knott High School in Big Spring Texas and attended Texas A&M University. He retired after 23 years in the United States Air Force, receiving many honors while serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He served the last 6 years teaching the ROTC program at Baylor University. His first job after the military was with Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas. He later worked several years at the First National Bank of Waco.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was an active member of Crossroads Baptist Church. He was past president of LaVega Little league and coached for 15 years. He was a member of the Northwest Optimist Club of Waco and also of VFW post 10428. He was a Past Master of Bellmead Masonic Lodge #1329, a 32 degree Master Mason, and a member of the Karem Shrine Temple, where he participated in the marching patrol, and the transportation committee. Driving children to the Shriners Crippled and Burn Hospitals was his passion. He was also a member of the Royal Order of Jesters. He was always eager to help those in need and was always willing to give anyone a hug. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His greatest joys were derived from spending time at the family ranch with his wife, children, grand children, great granddaughter and his many friends.

Those left to cherish his loving memory are his wife of 57 years Eva Rasberry; two sons Rocky Rasberry of Houston and Ricky Rasberry of Woodway; four grandchildren Roxanne Rasberry and her husband Daniel of Houston, Ryan Rasberry and his wife Kim of Waco, Colton Rasberry and Hunter Rasberry of Houston; a great granddaughter Reagan Stone of Houston, a sister Dorothy Knight of Sherman; a sister in law Pauline Porter of Port Arthur and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Rasberry, Colton Rasberry, Hunter Rasberry, Rusty Haferkamp, Randall Harris, Brad Wilson and Neals DeHoop. Honorary pallbearers will be the Karm Motor Patrol.

In lieu of flowers any memorials are requested to Karem Shrine Temple Transportation Fund. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our “Memorial ” at www.gracegardensfh.com.
