Clarence Terrell Massey, 91 of Waco, Texas passed away at a local hospital on Friday, December 23, 2016. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon Wednesday, December 28, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr., Woodway, Texas. Brother Dan Carter of the Killeen Church of Christ will officiate. Interment will follow at the Lorena Cemetery. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to services at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.
Mr. Massey was born April 20, 1925 to Robert and Lottie Massey in Waples Texas near Granbury. After high school he enlisted in the Army and proudly served his country from 1943-1945 in WWII. He was wounded in battle and awarded 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. Mr. Massey was a good Christian man. He loved his Country, but most of all he loved God and his family. After the War he was employed by the Missouri, Kansas & Texas Railroad (Katy Railroad). He held numerous positions with the Katy over his 41-year career, and he retired in 1988 as Superintendent of the San Antonio Katy Yard.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Charlene, father Robert Massey, mother Lottie Massey, and brothers Raymond, Wayne and Ed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Jean Massey of Waco, Texas, son Alvin Massey of Katy, Texas, daughters Beverly McMahan of Pataskala, Ohio, Jeanne Mirick and husband George of Moody Texas, Debbie Hicks and husband Frank of Hempstead Texas, and Danah Buix and husband Jim of Camas, Washington. He is also survived by grandchildren Barret Burleson of Houston, Texas, Jason and Stormy Hall of Granbury, Texas, Jamie and Jimmy Generals of Lorena, Texas Amber Reffett of Waller, Texas, Jennifer and Mat Haderlie of Lewiston, Idaho, Mandy and Myke Durham of Happy Valley, Oregon, Brianna Lindholm of Frisco, Texas and Gabriella Massey of Columbia, Missouri. He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Pallbearers will be George Mirick, Jason Hall, Jimmy Generals, and Willie Trojacek. Honorary pallbearers will be Gus Olesch and Barret Burleson.
The family would like to express it deepest appreciation to the doctors and nurses at Baylor Scott & White-Hillcrest who cared for him. We are especially grateful to the Hospice staff. Their caring compassionate care will never be forgotten.
