Cindy Jean Graves Cranfill, 55 of Hewitt, Texas, formerly Spokane, Washington and Marble Falls, Texas, passed away on October 24, 2013. Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 3:30 p.m. Saturday October 26, 2013 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr. Honoring her wishes to be cremated, there will be no funeral but instead a memorial dinner will be held immediately following the viewing at 4pm at the La Quinta hotel in Woodway, Texas.
Cindy was born in Fremont, Nebraska on December 14, 1957 to Duane and Glenna Graves (Wohlfeil). She grew up in Norfolk, Nebraska, moving to Texas in 1980, where Cindy had her heart set on starting her own family. She married Robert Cranfill April 14, 1984, and they had 2 children, daughter Crystal and son, Gerrad. Cindy was employed by Lakeland Mall, HEB, Marble Falls National Bank, NBC Bank and IBC Bank during their residency in Marble Falls, Texas in which she created and grew lifelong friendships with many coworkers through the years.
In November 2007, the Cranfill family moved to Spokane, Washington for a change in scenery and weather. Cindy was employed by Vickerman and Driscoll Financial Advisors for her entire stay in Washington. Cindy absolutely loved being in the northern United States as she could enjoy snow, “her mountains”, long motorcycle rides with her husband in the cool of Spring, and the gorgeous changing colors of the Fall leaves.
After undergoing a hysterectomy in late October 2011, pathology reports detected cancer and thus required more testing. Cindy was officially diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer in early November 2011. She underwent immediate surgery to remove the main tumor and started chemotherapy in January 2012. Cindy managed through almost 2 years of chemo with faith, a positive attitude, and an unwavering ability to love life and every second that she was presented with. She had a very big, kind, loving, compassionate heart – no doubt that it was one main factor that kept her so strong through such a long, enduring battle - She will be widely remembered for these precious traits.
In April 2013, Robert and Cindy moved back to Hewitt, Texas to be close to immediate family as it became more prevalent that Cindy was terminal. She enjoyed many hobbies such as sewing, watching Christmas movies, being in snow and “her mountains”, but most of all, she always preferred to spend time with family. Whether it be dinner nights, movie nights, game nights, vacations, getaways, or “just being” together, she enjoyed family time the most .
Cindy is survived by her husband of 29 & 1/2 years, Robert, of Hewitt, TX; daughter, Crystal of Austin, Texas; son, Gerrad of Spokane, Washington; parents, Duane and Glenna Graves, of San Marcos, Texas; and sister, Tracy Moczygemba and husband, John, also of San Marcos, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, all condolences and memorials may be sent to 600 Park Wood Circle, Hewitt, TX 76643.
