It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Christopher Douglas Crain, born on July 1, 1967, in Waco, Texas, to his loving parents Doug and Donna Crain. After a long, but courageous and hard fought battle with cancer, On July 23, 2024, Chris went to be with Jesus. Throughout his life, Christopher touched the hearts of many with his kindness, warmth, and unwavering spirit.
Christopher was raised in Hillsboro, Texas with love and care by his devoted parents. He grew into a remarkable individual, known for his generosity, sense of humor, and dedication to his family and friends.
Chris loved the Fightin’ Texas Aggies and was a proud member of Waco GoodFellas. His love language was acts of service and he loved nothing more than to be able to help others. Chris was a friend to all and never met a stranger. He could fix anything and often people would call on him and he wouldn't hesitate to stop what he was doing to help someone in need. The most important thing to Chris was what he could do for others.
Chris met the love of his life, Melanie, in 2004 and they married in 2006. Together they raised 4 fantastic children and were blessed with 6 spectacular grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved mother, Donna Crain; his devoted wife whom he loved fiercely, Melanie (Ratliff) Crain; his children, Coltin Jellison (Alissa), Courtney Kofnovec, Catey Kofnovec, and Blake Crain; his six spectacular grandchildren, Kaislee, Kaysn, Chandyn, Penelope, Kruz, and Jack; his sister, Debra Rogers (Scott); and his favorite niece, Candice Roberts (Brandon) and several aunts and uncles. Chris is also survived by his beloved dotted love queen, Dotti. His faithful furry companion who was always by his side. Christopher's legacy of love, compassion, and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on July 26th at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Gardens Funeral Home in Waco, TX. A celebration of his life will follow at The Red Barn in Lorena, TX, from 5-8 p.m. Please wear your favorite Texas A&M shirt or Waco GoodFella's shirt if you have one.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Rudranath Talukdar and the angel nurses at McClinton Cancer Center in Waco, Dr. David Mason of Methodist Health System, Dr. Heather Henderson of BSW in Waco, TX and the ICU team on 3 North at Hillcrest BSW. Their love and compassion over the past 8 years has carried us through some difficult times.
Additionally to all of the family and friends who have texted, called, emailed, prayed and assisted Melanie and the children the past few days, we cannot thank you enough. Your love has been felt and not gone unnoticed. You all are real angels on earth.
