November 12, 1927 - January 27, 2015

Charlotte Warrington Mills Petty passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 after a short illness. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Blackford officiating. Interment will follow at Valley Mills Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5 - 7 p.m. Friday at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Charlotte was born November 12, 1927 to Ruby and Fred Warrington of Valley Mills. She married the late Wiley Mills and to them 4 daughters were born. She carried on the vocation of her parents who served as Postmaster and Clerk at the Valley Mills Post Office where Charlotte was a rural letter carrier for more than 20 years. She was active in the lives of her daughters and served as Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed being with her nieces and nephews and other young people. She was an accomplished and creative seamstress and inspired her daughters to do the same. She was an amazing cook.

She later married the late James T. Petty and moved to Waco. She was an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She loved travel and visiting family. Charlotte and her special friend, Gib Liles traveled extensively and attended many VFW and Karem Shrine functions, cruises, and tours. She was a member of Cogdell United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents: sisters Pearl Jameson, and Elizabeth Westmoreland, and one brother, Jim Warrington.

Charlotte is survived by daughters, Carol and the late Ronnie Dansby of Woodway, Connie and Donnie Dansby of Brentwood, Tn., Sue and Johnny Timmons of Seabrook, and Cherrie and Rick Mitchell of Pearland; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and sister-in-law, Alice (Skeet) and Roy Oliver of Baytown.

Pallbearers are Rick and Alan Mitchell, Wiley and Johnny Timmons, Charles Dansby, Steve Dansby, John Gouldin, and Greg Fariss.
