Charles Riggs

Charles Preston Riggs, 77, of Waco went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, February 26, 2015 in Dallas. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, with Dr. Joe Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood cemetery. Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr.

Charles was born December 30, 1937 in Highland Park, MI to Rev. Charles Raymond and Winona Maye Riggs. After high school, Charles attended Freewill Baptist Bible College in Nashville, TN. Afterwards he married Joyce Louise Rentz on June 16, 1958 in Baxley, GA. In 1960, Charles began a long career with the United States Air Force before retiring after 24 years of service. He enjoyed his family time but specifically loved spending time with his grandkids and singing. Charles had a passion for music and even served as the minister of music for Speegleville Baptist Church. Charles believed that three words could sum up life: servant, truth, and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Raymond and Winona Riggs.

Charles is survived by his wife, Joyce Riggs of Waco; children, Darin and Tami Riggs, of Mckinney and Dara Delony of Waco; grandchildren, Zach and Haley Williams of Fort Benning, GA, Brendon Riggs of College Station, Sydney Riggs of Mckinney, Mackenzi Delony of Waco, and Mason Delony of Waco; his siblings, Kenneth Howard Riggs, Ramona Kaye Sessoms, Patricia Anne Daniel, Raymond Randall Riggs, and Stephen Douglas Riggs, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
