He was born on October 2, 1941 in Douglas, Arizona to Clareese and Joe Bailey Cook. He grew up in a large loving family of four sisters and two brothers. He graduated from Raton High School in Raton, New Mexico having proudly represented the Tigers by lettering and leading in multiple sports including football, basketball, and baseball. After graduating from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Education, he entered the Air Force to serve the United States during the Vietnam War.

In 1969, he married Sherry Ann Sweeney (Sherry Baldwin). They resided most of their married life in the Dallas-Fort Worth area where they raised their daughter Heather. Although they later divorced, they remained friends and together helped support and encourage their daughter through high school and college.

Charlie was a driven professional with unmatched work ethic. He was a valued employee and friend as he worked in management and sales for a variety of lumber product companies including Tandy, Central Distributors, and Superior Forrest Products. He loved his co-workers and clients priding himself on taking care of them like family. He reluctantly retired after working over 35 years with dear friends that he continued to stay in close contact.

He was incredibly devoted to his family. He was a loving dad to his daughter and son-in law, but his greatest joy was being “Papa” to his two granddaughters. His undeniable love for them was evident in his continual support and presence at every event in which they participated. He loved to play golf and watch football. He enjoyed a good book, listening to sports talk radio, and reading the newspaper from cover to cover. He was an avid fan of the Moody Bearcats and attended almost every sporting event even if his girls were not playing.

Charlie is survived by his daughter Heather Perkins and her husband Tracy of Robinson, TX; his granddaughters Summer Wright and her husband Matt of Hewitt TX, and Liz Perkins of Robinson, TX; his sisters Peggy Segotta and her husband Jim of Raton, NM, Joann Bass and her husband Dale of Albequerque, NM, Sue Lark of Goodwill, OK, and Debbie Ulibarri of Raton, NM; his sister-in-law Florence Cook of Barstow, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved and enjoyed spending time with. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Louis (Bud) Cook and Raymond Cook, and brother-in-law Jay Lark.
