Biography
Celia Flores Collins passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Visitation will be held Friday, January 22, from 6-8 p.m., at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 23, at 11 a.m. , at Rosemound Cemetery, with Bishop David Hodson officiating.
Celia was born in Los Angeles, California. At the age of four, she moved with her family to Colonia Dublan, Chihuahua, Mexico. At the age of 18, Celia moved to El Paso, Texas and shortly after, completed her training in nursing. She worked for over thirty-eight years as an L.V.N. and was passionate about nursing and caring for her patients. Celia retired and moved to Waco, Texas in 1996. Celia loved her family greatly and lived her life for them and through them. In spite of many physical hardships throughout her life, Celia was a most selfless, generous and caring person. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a deep-rooted love for the Savior, Jesus Christ.
Celia is survived by her daughter Dorothy and husband Michael Schlitt; brothers Moises , Samuel , Ruben , Elias, Hector, Porfirio, Jr., Helaman; sister Gloria Rivas; grandchildren Michael Daly, Jacqueline Daly, and Rachel Schlitt; and great grandchildren Kristan Daly, Hunter Daly, and Kira Daly.
Identifying those close to Celia would not be complete without mention of her lifelong friends, particularly Carmen and Thomas Herrin, and their daughter Nancy Brockett. Also Socorro Silva and Marylu Arana.
The family would like to sincerely thank the Hillcrest Hospice staff, and Regent Care Center caregivers.
