Carrie (Turner) Jones

Carrie Jones of Waco passed away Thursday evening Jan. 30, 2020, in Bellmead at the age of 87.  A wake will be held 6 to 8 P.M.  Friday Feb. 7, 2020, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel,  8220 Woodway Dr. The funeral service will be 1:00 P.M . Sat. Feb. 8, 2020, at the Living Word Church of God in Christ Church.  Interment will follow in Little Tehuacana Cemetery.

Carrie Louise Jones was born September 21, 1932 to Walter Turner and Florence (Scott) Turner in Waco, Texas.  She attended school at Carlew-Little Tehuacana School and Moore High.

Carrie met and married Willie Cornelius Jones on September 17, 1952.  To this union 3 children were born, Willie C. Jones, Jr., Sandra L. Jones and Lisa A. Jones.

Carrie resided all of her life in New York until 2016 when she made the move back to Texas.  While in New York, she was a self-employed seamstress and hair dresser.  As a seamstress, she made choir robes for the Angelic Gospel Choir which gave her the opportunity to sew choir robes for many other churches.

Carrie was a faithful member of the Bible Church of Christ for more than 30 years, until her move to Texas.  She served as a faithful Deaconess, usher, cook, choir member and was on the prison ministry along with being a member of various other committees.

On Thursday, January 30, 2020, Carrie transitioned from her earthly life and is now present with the Lord.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, Willie C. Jones; son, Willie C. Jones, Jr.; daughter, Lisa A. Jones; sisters, Annie Queen Greenwade, Buna Powell and Ruthie Mae Singleton; brothers, Walter Turner, Jr. and Alfred L. Turner.

Carrie leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted daughter, Sandra L. Jones and grandson, Jelani James of Waco, Texas; Sister, Jewel Shores and brother, Joe L. Turner both of Waco, Texas.  A devoted and loving god-daughter LeRenda Jones of Maryland.
