Brother Huggins peacefully went to sleep while awaiting hip surgery in Providence Medical Center, Waco, Texas, on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at the age of 89..
Brother Carl Cornell Huggins was born on June 20th, 1932, in Roxberry, Massasschuet, to Seventh-day Adventist parents John Alexander and Edna Albert Huggins. He was the second to last sibling of about twenty children. Carl was a Veteran who served in the United States Army, and after his dedication to our country, he worked for many years as a janitorial laborer.
Brother Carl became a member of the Seventh-day Adventist and while in Boston, Massasscheut Carl met the love of his life Joyce, and they were married for 28 years; she predeceased him on April 12th, 2009. They accepted the Shepherd's Rod Message in the 1980s and were among the pioneers “in the return” to Waco, Texas, by the Davidian Seventh-day Adventists.
Brother Huggins or “Handsome Huggy” as he liked to be called, will be truly missed. Handsome Huggy lost his sight in 2009, but that inconvenience did not alter his love for Jesus Christ or his faith in God’s promises. He held on dearly to the promises of the return of Christ and the establishment of His Kingdom of peace. Every Tuesday night at Prayer Meeting, since 2009, we heard him testify of the Love of Jesus.
Brother Carl leaves behind two favorite nephews Ralph Douglas and Bobby Taylor, a host of other nephews, great-nephews, nieces, great-nieces; and many brothers and sisters in the Lord
