Harold "Butch" Wayne Highfill, 79, passed away on March 24, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 7, 1945, in Carlisle, Arkansas, he moved with his family to Texas at an early age. Butch was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
An entrepreneur and a pillar of his community, Butch founded three successful businesses over the past 50 years: PMS, Inc. in 1975, Source Access, Inc. in 2000, and JBees Tires in 2014. His dedication and hard work were evident in every venture he undertook. He employed hundreds of Central Texans and others throughout the United States. Butch made lifelong friends through his professional endeavors, always treating his employees with respect. Butch and his business partner, Gary Granger, sold PMS, Inc. in 1990, and he remained with the company until his retirement. After a brief retirement, Butch started Source Access, Inc., which he owned and operated with two partners until he sold his shares and retired once again. However, retirement was not Butch’s strong suit, so he began his last adventure in the used tire industry with his partners and friends, Brent Murray, and James Olson. Butch worked five days a week until November 2024, after which he worked from home. His ambitious spirit and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Butch and his first wife, Tanna, moved to Lorena, TX, in 1978. He was an active member of the Lorena community, where he raised his two daughters and had the privilege of coaching Little League softball for several years. He was always proud of his team, the Texans, and enjoyed his years as a coach, always asking for nothing short of the best from his players.
In 1997, Butch married Diane Ramsey Graves, and they would have celebrated 28 years of marriage in June. Butch loved to spoil Diane, and they shared a great love for one another, enjoying various activities together, with travel being at the top of their list. They took numerous trips all over the world, making memories and lifelong friends. Many of those trips were taken with Diane’s parents, Jerrell, and Beverly Ramsey. The four of them had a loving bond. Butch and Diane also enjoyed entertaining family and friends, spending countless days in their pool as soon as the water was warm.
Butch is preceded in death by his parents, Alton, and Clotene Highfill; brother, Byron Highfill; sister, Linda Nobles; nephew, Jon-Arlan Nobles; father-in-law, Jerrell Ramsey, and brother-in-law Jerrell “Jerry” Ramsey.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Diane; daughters, Denise Highfill and Melissa Carroll (Raymond); stepson, Adam Graves (Ellen); granddaughters, Scout Melde (Colton) and Cora Graves; grandsons, Colin Highfill (Makenzie) and Kave Clendenin (Brooke); and two beautiful great-granddaughters, Konway Melde and Hatlynn Highfill. Butch is also survived by his cherished dog, Gypsy.
Butch will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for his family and friends, as well as his great hair and beautiful blue eyes. Diane and the family would like to thank the medical and hospice staff at Baylor Scott & White Hospital-Hillcrest for their expertise, kindness, and the love they poured into Butch and the family. A special thanks to RNs Yasmin and Chris for their servant hearts.
