Burl Murphy

Burl Murphy age 75, of Lorena passed away at local hospital. Funeral Services will be 10AM Saturday April 28, 2012 at Robinson Drive United Methodist at 2801 Robinson Drive. Waco, Texas with Rev. Denise Rogers officiating and Chuck Ellis a nephew assisting. Visitation will be 6 to 8PM Friday April 27, 2012 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.

Burl was born on May 13, 1936 in Fluvanna, Texas to Emmett and Exerlee Murphy. He moved to Waco in 1939. He served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1957. He met the love of his life Bobbie Jo Tate, in the 3rd grade and married her in February 5, 1954 in San Antonio at Lackland Air Force Base. They raised two children together, Brinda and Blane. Burl worked as a Glazer from 1960 to 1993. He retired from Allen Glass Company in 1993. Burl’s favorite past time was hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and grandkids. Burl was known as “Grandad” by all of his grandkids, and by most others.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers.

Burl is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bobbie, his daughter, Brinda Fields and husband Billy, son Blane Murphy and Cindy. His sister Doris Dollins and brother Emmett Murphy. Grandkids, Nicki Fields and Lisa, Crystal Ford and Randal Reyes, Brian Fields and Elizabeth, Michael Murphy and Belinda, Miranda Rodriguez and Gus. Great grandkids, Taylor Driskell and Mason Edwards, Madison Ford, Jessica Hernandez and Keith, Maegan Pennington, Morgan Fields, Ashlin Fields, Landon Fields, LeeAngel Rodriguez. Great great grandbaby Brantley Edwards. Many nieces, nephews , and friends.
