Melvin Bruce Ling went to be with our Lord, Sunday, June 3, 2012 while on a fishing trip to the coast. A memorial service will be held Thursday June 7, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.
Bruce was born February 6, 1946 in Waco, TX to Melvin James and Laura Wallace Ling. He grew up and attended schools in Lorena. He went to Southwest Texas State University where he made 5 lifelong friends; Don Schwank, Dan Burke, John Villarreal, David Henry, and David Lefler. Their families grew up together and they had reunions each year to keep in touch. He worked for the Brown School and the Austin State School in San Marcos and Austin respectively. He later worked for the Waco Center for Youth until his retirement. He married Mary Elizabeth “Cookie” Ramirez in Austin in 1981. She preceded him in death on April 26, 1999.
Bruce is survived by his two daughters; Emily Rose Ling of Austin and Tristan Landers of McGregor. He has surviving grandchildren Abbi, Laurin and Wyatt McNiel of Moody and Matthew and Sara Landers of McGregor. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Ling of Lorena. He is survived by his uncle, Bill Wallace and aunt, Shirley Springfield, both of Robinson. He is also survived by a host of extended family and friends who will miss him.
