Brenda Sue Simpson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on February 9, 2025. She was born on January 22, 1951, at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, TX, to Alfred and Clara Zimmerman, who instilled in her a strong sense of compassion and community.
Throughout her life, Brenda exemplified love and service. A proud member of the LaVega High School drill team, she graduated in 1969 and soon after embarked on a career that included roles as a switchboard operator at Southwestern Bell and a dedicated school bus driver. Her most cherished position was at Member's Choice Credit Union, where she worked at the front desk until her retirement in 2010.
Brenda's heart was immeasurable, radiating warmth and kindness. She shared her life with her husband Morgan Simpson, whom she married on September 4, 1971, at Bellmead First Baptist Church. Together, they celebrated 53 years of deep love and unwavering support for one another. Brenda's faith in God was at the center of her life, reflected in her tireless work with foster children and her active participation in the bus ministry, children's church, clown ministry, and senior ministry at her church. A long-time member of Calvary Assembly of God in Robinson, she later found a new home at Hewitt Community Church in Hewitt, where she cherished her church family immensely.
Brenda’s passions extended beyond her faithful service. She loved camping with Morgan in their RV, swimming in the sun, and reveling in the company of family and friends. Her dogs were a constant source of joy, and she showered them with the same love she gave to all.
Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Clara Zimmerman; her brother, James Zimmerman; sister-in-law, Laura Zimmerman; and brother-in-law, Jerry Fisher.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Morgan Simpson; her daughter, Kimberly McGee and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Kaleb, Kaley, and Kristie McGee; brother, Bill Zimmerman; sister-in-law, Kay Zimmerman; brother-in-law, Lynn Simpson; sister-in-law, Lisa Simpson; sister-in-law, Carey Lee Fisher; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in honor of Brenda at Hewitt Community Church on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Following the ceremony, guests are invited to join the family for a reception to reminisce and celebrate Brenda's remarkable life. The church is located at 212 Kiowa Trail, Hewitt, TX 76643.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Providence Hospice, Hewitt Community Church, and the many friends and family members who have offered their love and support during this difficult time. They would like to especially thank their wonderful neighbors and friends, Frank and Sharon Marmolejo, for their constant support and help.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hewitt Community Church, continuing Brenda’s legacy of love and service to others. May her memory serve as a beacon of light in the lives she touched.
