Brandon Rath

November 22, 1986 — November 9, 2011

Brandon Jonah Rath, 24 years old, Austin, Texas, passed away at 2:30 a.m. on November 9, 2011, at Seton Hospital, Austin, Texas. His death was caused by an Asthma attack and related pneumonia. He, his mother, and his sister moved to McGregor, Texas in 1988 after the death of his father, Randy. They resided for a short time in McGregor before the family moved to Austin, Texas, the place he always referred to as home.

Jonah loved life and everything about it. He was a very bright young man who literally absorbed information as a sponge. He wanted to experience every moment of life. Jonah loved cooking and many of his jobs, since the age of 16, had been in the cooking environment. He was previously a steak cook at a steakhouse in Houston, Texas. He came to McGregor and Austin for a visit and determined that he wanted to live in Austin. He was recently employed in Austin at Flextronics as a forklift operator. He loved all of his jobs and the people he worked with. He has many friends in Austin, McGregor and Houston. Jonah made friends every place he lived.

His many friends always knew that he was asthmatic. In recent years it had become a problem more often than not and on Thursday, November 4, 2011, he had the worst case of all. It claimed his ability to sustain life. Jonah was an organ donor and had always wanted to be one. He felt that if one part of him would help someone else, he definitely wanted to give that to a person in need of help. Jonah was very loving, kind, sympathetic, and wanted to make the world perfect. He will be missed by everyone whose life he touched.

Jonah was born on November 22, 1986, in Omaha, Nebraska to Randy Lee Rath and Gladys Johnson Rath. Jonah is preceded in death by his father, Randy and his grandmother Barbara Rath of Omaha, Nebraska. He is survived by his mother, Gladys Rath, of McGregor, Texas, his sister Britani Rath Hansen, brother-in-law Michael Hansen, his two nephews, Drake Cole Hansen and Jamison Dillon Hansen of Austin, his grandparents W C and Faye Johnson of McGregor, Texas, and many aunts, uncles, counsins and always his many friends.

Jonah’s family wishes to thank the nursing staff and Dr. Weingarten at Seton B ICU Hospital of Austin, Texas.

Interment will be at the City of McGregor Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
