Bobby Westwood

Bobby Joe Westwood, age 77, of Valley Mills, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at a local nursing home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00a.m., Monday, December 20, 2010 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. Burial will be at 2:30p.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at DFW National Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00p.m., Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the funeral home.

Bob graduated from Coal Hill High School in Arkansas in 1951. He joined the Navy, serving 42 months on the USS Burton Island. He graduated from Arlington State College with a BBA in Accounting. He joined the US Naval Reserve in 1963 and retired in 1993 as Chief Warrant Officer Four. Bob was employed by Texas Farm Bureau and retired after 20 years as Vice-President of Computer Services.

He was a member of John Armstrong Masonic Lodge in Valley Mills and a member and a past member of Lee Lockwood Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Karem Shrine where he was Hospital Transportation Chairman for 10 years, he also served as treasurer for 11 years. He received the Honor of Treasurer Emeritus in 2007. He was a member of Karem Motor Patrol and Tumbleweed RV Club. He was a member of the Patton Baptist Church in Valley Mills.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norlan and Lena Westwood; two sisters, Christine and Doris Jean.

Bob is survived by his wife of 16 years, Alice Carleen Westwood; one sister, Norlene Grigsby and husband, Jerry of Broken Arrow, OK; two daughters, Doreen Atkinson of West and Linda Westwood and friend, Larry of Hurst; two sons, Keith Westwood and wife, Katy of Hurst and Bobby Westwood and wife, Maureen of Ft. Worth; step-daughter, Tina Foss and husband, Mark of Brush Prairie, WA; step-son, Glenn Pitts of Athens; six grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wayne West, Herb Kunkle, Larry Taylor, Bob Peacock, Mel Baker and Ralph Reynolds. Honorary Pallbearers will be the potentates that Bob serviced as treasurer of Karem Shrine.
