Billy R. Brint, 79, of Woodway, Texas, passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at a local hospital, and entered into eternal life.
Visitation will be at Grace Gardens Funeral Home in Woodway on Thursday, Sept. 15, from 6-8 P.M. Graveside services will be at 10 A.M. Friday Sept. 16, at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Pastor Ivan Ker officiating.
Billy was born on August 15, 1932, in Homer, Louisiana to Robert and Nettie Kress Brint. His family moved to Norphlet, Arkansas when Billy was 13 years old, where he met the love of his life, Bobbie Jean Young. He graduated from Norphlet High School in 1950, where he was the quarterback of the district championship football team.
Billy and Bobbie had their first date when he was a 17-year old high school senior, and she was a 20-year old businesswoman. They eloped and were married on April 19, 1952. Four months later, he was inducted into the Army during the Korean conflict, and stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama. He was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant.
In 1960, he went to work for Paul Meyer of Success Motivation Institute, becoming the first distributor in the company’s history. In 1966, he moved his family to Waco, Texas, where he worked at SMI headquarters until 1972. He later worked in the real estate investment field, eventually starting his own company, Brint Associates, with his wife Bobbie.
At the age of 52, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of learning to play the piano, taught by local instructor Ruby McCray. Billy loved fishing with his wife and kids, and fished the Texas state bass tournament with Bobbie numerous times. In his younger days, he was a championship duck-caller. He was an avid sports fan of the Baylor Bears, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Rangers. He also loved the southern gospel music of such artists as the Statesmen Quartet and Bill Gaither.
Years after retirement, he was a driver for Midway Auto Auction and Hertz Rent-a-Car, enjoying the camaraderie of many new friendships. He was involved in all aspects of his children’s lives, including coaching little league baseball and softball, and loved attending all his grandchildren’s activities.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, his younger sisters Janice Lewis and Bobbie Hardin, and son-in-law Victor Brown.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Bobbie; his children, Bruce Brint, Brad Brint, Brenda Brint Franks and husband Gary; his grandchildren, Cody Brown and girlfriend Brittany Snyder, Chelsea Brown, and Carson Franks; his brothers, J.R. Brint, Jr. and Jim Brint; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins, who all adored him. Billy was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, and brother, and he will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank Dr. Randall Jensen, his primary care physician for many years; also the entire staff at Hillcrest 4 South and Hillcrest Hospice, for their excellent care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Stroke Association, or the charity of your choice.
