He attended Hewitt schools and graduated from Lorena High School where he excelled in football and basketball. He grew up the son of a farmer and spent most of his youth in the fields farming with the family.
He was an avid bird hunter and once told a story of going hunting with a box of shells, 25, and coming home with 26 dove. He was honorably discharged after serving his country proudly.
Billy then began Blanton Quality Homes and built family residences. His blueprints and fingerprints are all over what is now Woodway.
