Billie Catherine Gilmore of Woodway, formerly a longtime McGregor resident, died Saturday morning, June 17, 2017, in McGregor at the age of 89. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m.Thursday, June 29th, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel, 8220 Woodway Drive in Waco with Pastor Chris Farrow officiating.
Billie was born on November 26, 1927 in Moody, Texas, the daughter of the late Clarence Iva and Della (Robinson) Clark. She was a 1945 graduate of Moody High School. On October 2, 1949, she married James H. Gilmore in McGregor. After 53 years of marriage, he preceded her in death February 27, 2002.
Billie was co-owner of Gilmore & Davis Furniture in McGregor and very active in interior design and sales in the family-owned business. She loved meeting and visiting with people. Her real joy was decorating and the Gilmore & Davis Christmas windows each year with her daughter, until the business closed in 1999. She was also the owner of Barcelona Apartments in McGregor.
Also preceding her in death was her stepmother Velma Bagby Clark; a brother, Clarence Iva Clark, Jr., and his wife Doris; two nephews, Robert and Randy Clark.
Survivors include two daughters, Jan Kay Helm and husband Brent of Hewitt, Jill Bruce Hutcheson and husband Jim of Woodway; a grandson, Jeffrey Scott Sloan of McGregor; two granddaughters, Dori Catherine Helm of Hewitt and Courtney Lauren Helm of Keller.
