Billie Ferguson

Billie Dean Ferguson, 87, of Austin, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2014.

Billie Dean Ferguson was born August 24, 1927 in Waco to Aubra Dean and Ida Carrie (Reuwer) Slaughter. Billie graduated from Waco High School and married the love of her life, Guy Ferguson, Jr. August 31, 1946. In 1961 the couple moved to Texarkana for a few years before moving to Austin in 1965. Billie began working at the Austin American Statesman and worked until her retirement in 1992 after 20 years. Bille was family oriented and loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Ferguson, Jr.; parents, Dean and Ida Slaughter; sister, Juanita Anderson; brother, Aubrey Slaughter; and sister, Barbara Watkins.

Billie is survived by her son, Dan Ferguson and wife, Monica; son David Ferguson and spouse, Dana; grandchildren, Holly Liles and husband, Clayton, Matt Ferguson, and great-grandchildren, Lauren Liles and John-Luke Liles.
