“William “Bill” Couffer was called home to the Lord on Saturday January 20th, 2018, eleven days shy of his 88th birthday. Bill wished his ashes to be spread by still waters in the mountains where he and his wife visited during their retirement years. Bill served the Lord, his family and his country. It was natural for him to give rather than receive. Even though there is a void in the heart of his family, we share the strong sense of peace that comes with knowing he now resides among the angels.
Bill was born in Hominy Oklahoma. After high school, he enjoyed a 23+ year military career serving in the Army Air Core and US Air Force. He served on bases and in the fields of France, Vietnam, Turkey and Pakistan. After his military service, he worked for General Electric in the Western United States with electrician projects in Saudi Arabia. He later settled in Ketchikan Alaska, where he took care of electrical systems in the local pulp mill. He made Waco his home base in 1992. He very much enjoyed the game of golf and the comradery of Waco friends of the sport.
Mr. Couffer was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers, a sister and a step-son.
Bill’s love and memories will be cherished by his wife of 28 years, Sandra Couffer; brother and wife Dale and Carol Couffer, step-son Paul Novelli and spouse Telean,; extended family Nancy and Curtis Rothe; 2 grandchildren Natalie Novelli and Megan Buie and husband Jeb; 2 great grandchildren Jordon and Josh Buie; 10 nephews 1 niece and their families from the Couffer, Hargrove and Novelli families.
Bill was charitable during his life to underprivileged schools and other organizations and requested sending to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.”
