Betty Rush age 63, of Mexia passed away Wednesday November 23, 2011 at a local hospital. A Celebration of Life Service is planned for Saturday December 3, 2011 at a friend’s home on Lake Mexia.
Betty was born on December 17, 1947 in Sherman, Texas to Keith and Mary Jo Watkins. She graduated from Tom Bean High School in 1967 where she was the captain of the girl’s basketball team and she was voted most athletic. She married Jackey Joe Rush on March 1, 1975 in Sherman, TX. In 1995 they moved to the Mexia area. She was a member of the Brazos River Gunslingers Old West gunfight reenactment group, enjoyed being outside, working in her woodshop building gifts for her friends and family, she loved to spend time with her friends and family as often as possible.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Keith Temple Watkins and Mary Jo Isbell Watkins as well was her older sister Janet Hawkins all of Luella.
She is survived by her husband Jackey Rush of Mexia, TX, her children Keith Allen Rush and wife Sarah of Flower Mound, TX, Terri Melton and husband BJ of Oglesby, TX, Stephyne Broom of Sherman, TX and Joe Rush of Sherman,TX. Her Brother-in-law Larry Hawkins of Luella, TX, sisters Billie Langford and husband Phillip of Tom Bean, TX , Kathy Walker and husband Doyle of Luella, TX, Sandy Smith and husband Danny of Cherry Mound, TX. Her Uncle CB and Margaret Isbell of Beaumont, TX. Several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends that will truly miss her.
