Betty L. (Goodwin) Pomerenke of McGregor, Texas passed away on December 6, 2020 at Westview Manor in McGregor, after a long but courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Visitation will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 10, 2020 at the Moody Church of Christ. A Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 pm with Minister Pat Richardson officiating. Wearing a mask and social distancing will be required. Burial will follow at the Moody Cemetery.
Betty was born May 13, 1935 to the late Jack and Lucille (Norman) Goodwin in Eagle Springs, Texas. She attended McGregor public schools and graduated from McGregor High School in 1953. She married Alfred C. Pomerenke, Jr. on November 6, 1953 in Waco. Betty was employed for most of her working career with the First National Bank of McGregor and retired after 43 years of dedicated service in 2007.
Betty lived for spending quality time with her grandchildren; be it going shopping, summer vacations, visiting the local parks or just hanging around the house playing games at the kitchen table. Her grandkids loved spending time with her too. Sunday dinners after church were essential for the entire Pomerenke family. Betty was the happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends.
Betty accepted Christ at a young age and was a faithful member of the 6th and Adams Church of Christ in McGregor. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 57 years; and sister, Juanita Lightfoot. Survivors include her children, Bruce and wife Kathy, of Oglesby, Steve and wife Cheryl of McGregor, daughter Dana of Jones Creek; sisters Paulette Richardson and husband Clarence of Moody, Linda Lightfoot of McGregor; brother, Jack Goodwin and wife Clydia of Moody; grandchildren, Mindy, Zeb, Zach, Tammy, Tyson; great grandchildren, Quinn, Wesley, and Olivia. She was a Granny to many including Emery Graves and Ralynn Graves.
Pall Bearers will be Waylan Goodwin, Barry Lightfoot, Steve Pomerenke, Zach Pomerenke, Zeb Pomerenke, and Jim Yost.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Westview Manor and Providence Hospice.
