Betty Murdock at the age of 84, surrounded by her family, went home to be with Jesus Saturday afternoon January 16, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday January 23, 2021, in the Chapel of Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr. with Pastor Roger West officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Betty was born December 25, 1936, in Lorena, Texas, the daughter of the late L.B. and Myrtle Hannah (Heath) Bone. The family lived in McGregor where she attended McGregor Schools.
On February 8, 1952, she married Gale Murdock in Gatesville, Texas. They spent the next 69 years raising their family of three and serving the Lord in and around the Waco area. She was a meticulous housekeeper and was always ready for the “white glove test”. She was a homemaker as well as working outside the home in the retail business where she never met a stranger. She finally retired at the age of 72.
She enjoyed being with and doing things with her treasured family, as well as having a great love of music. She and her husband would often sit around with family and sing. She actively participated in Church throughout her adult life, having sang in the choir, participated in the children’s ministries and served on numerous commities. She was currently a member of Trinity Fellowship where she participated in a local blue grass gospel group and the Heaven Jubilee Group with her husband, Gale.
Also preceding her in death were her brothers Bill Bone, Kenneth Bone, Glenn Bone and Jerry Bone.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Gale Murdock; a son, Tony Murdock; daughters, Linda Holladay and husband Rick, Kady Grant and husband James; a brother, Fred Bone; a sister, Shirley Owen and husband Billy; grandchildren, Brian Curtis and wife Lyndsey, Justin Curtis and wife Heather, Derek Murdock and wife Dixie, Lauren Fratto and husband Joey, Joshua Murdock and wife Jeri, Charles Murdock and wife Abby, Jake Murdock, Christopher Goforth and wife Paola, Megan Barber and Husband Justin, Sara Nickle and husband Robert and twenty-two great grandchildren.
