Betty Jo Glasson, of Hewitt passed away February 25, 2010 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held Sunday February 28, at 2PM at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. John Willome officiating. Burial will take place on Monday 11AM at Sinton Cemetery in Sinton Texas. There will be no formal visitation.
Betty Jo was born January 17, 1928 to George R. and Lillie Mae Houser at the families farm house in the Sodville community near Sinton Texas. She married V.R. Glasson Jr. from West Portland Texas on April 20,1945. V.R. was a farmer and Betty was a proud farm wife and wonderful mother. Betty lived most of her life in San Paticio County until V.R. passed away and she moved to Hewitt in 1995 to be near her son and her family. She was a member of the Hewitt Baptist Church and worked at WORD Inc at CORD until age 75. Since that time she has lived with progressively failing health. Betty was blessed with best friends Sharon and Gary Kroll of Waco and caregiver Elena Lorenzo. Many thanks to the Hillcrest Hospital staff for their excellent care.
She was preceded in death by her husband V.R. Glasson in December 1992, her parents, two brothers and their spouses; Thomas Houser and his wife Joyce and Carroll Houser and his wife Lathenia; and a brother in law Edgar Niemann.
She is survived by two children Vernie R. Glasson and his wife Ann, Kara Jo Brooks and her husband Don of Corpus Christi, Texas. One sister Dorothy Niemann Cole of Sinton. She was the Proud Grandmother of six Grandchildren; Troy Glasson and his wife Page, Brad Glasson and his wife Sheena, Laurel Fisher and her husband Alex, Matt Glasson and his wife Nancy, Stephen Miller, Jenny Michaels and her fiancé Raymond Wright. Also twelve great grandchildren; Tyler, Lakyn, Isabel, Callie, Hunter, Eli, Quincy, Sarah, Hayley, Stephen, Stephanie and Kyara. And numerous nieces and nephews.
