Josephine Bernice Dickson Williams died at 10 am, May 23, 2013 at a local nursing home.
She was born to Quitman Quincy and Hattie Dickson on March 31, 1917 in Dresden, Texas and grew up in Purdon, Texas. Bernice married Alfred Henry Williams on April 10, 1937 in Hill County. She lived to be 96 years, 2 months and 24 days. Bernice lived in Hill County and McLennan County most of her life and was a wife, mother, grandmother, cousin and aunt and was loved by all who knew her. She was an excellent seamstress and worked for the Waco State Home for Children where she retired. Afterwards she worked for Hardin Drapery Company. She would sit with her friends helping out in any way she could, driving them to and from doctors appointments and also took care of her husband Henry during his illness.
She was an active member of Lake Shore Church of Christ until illness prevented her and was active in the food pantry for needy families.
Every Sunday after services Allen Miller and wife went from New Road Church of Christ to give her communion. Bernice loved the Lord and her concern was for her children and grandchildren to know Jesus as she did.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Henry who died May 4, 1998; daughter, Sharon Wadle; grandson, Brad Wadle; parents, Q.Q. and Mattie Dickson; and brothers, Selma Q. Dickson and Louis Walton Dickson; sister-in-law, Dorothy and husband Ralph Pearcy.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean and husband Larry Connor; grandchildren, Ray Wadle, Jeff Young and Kimberly Montgomery; great grandchildren, Riley and Allyson; nephews, Stewart & Faye Dickson and children, and Gary and Carol Dickson and children; and two nieces.
