Biography

Ben Kelln age 87, of Waco passed away on Monday April 9, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday April 14, 2012 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday April 13, 2012 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.

Ben was born on November 25, 1924 in Hemphill County to John and Mollie Kelln. He graduated from Shattuck Oklahoma High School, entered the Army, served in WWII, started a family, graduated from University of Washington in Seattle in 1949. He resumed farming and ranching in Oklahoma and Texas, then became a professional executive with the Boy Scouts of America in 1959. He retired from scouting in 1982, from the Heart of Texas BSA Council. He happily spent the rest of his life with family, friends, and cats. He was a much loved treasure and will be sadly missed by every life he touched.
He was preceded in death by: son Bret Kelln, sister-in-law Janice Eubank, parents, in-laws, friends, family, and cats.

Ben (aka MAG) is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bonita (aka Greenbird) Kelln; daughter Beth Kelln, son Kent Kelln and wife Sue Kelln, Granddaughter Kelln Small and husband Mike Small, Granddaughter Kristen Brick and husband Tom Brick; Grandsons Jason and Blaine Parish; great grandchildren Benjamin and Oliver Small, Karissa and Savanna Brick, Cody and Austin Parish; niece Brook Reppond and husband Kyle Reppond, great nieces Heather, Hope, and Halleigh Reppond; nephew Robert Bagwell, wife Katherine Bagwell, great nieces Charlotte and Kate Bagwell, brother-in-laws Warren Russell, Travis Rector and family, and Ben’s only surviving sibling Marj Hazlett (90 of Lubbock Texas), and numerous nieces and nephews.
