Barbara was born on August 19, 1945 in Port Arthur, Texas to Marshall and Bonnie Shaw Hatchel. She was the third of eight children. She moved to Kaufman, Texas as a young child and graduated from Kaufman High School in 1963. She married Dwane Guinn in 1977 and moved to Hewitt in 1978. She treasured being a stay at home mom while her children were young. After raising them, she worked at Baylor University for 17 years until she retired. She was a member of Hewitt First Baptist Church.
Barbara enjoyed gardening and cooking, but more than anything else, she enjoyed her time with her family, especially her children. There was nothing more precious to her than being “MeMe” to her grandchildren. Family was special to her and she was definitely special to her family. She touched so many lives during her 69 years and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Rickey and James, and sister Sonja.
She is survived by her husband, Dwane; daughter and son-in-law, Alain and Russell Humphrey of Hewitt; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jessica Guinn of Waco; son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Nella Guinn of Blanco; sister Jean Hall of Mesquite; sister Kay Foster of Plano; brother Marshall Hatchel of Kaufman; sister Gail Tilson of Kaufman; and grandchildren, Madison and McKenna Humphrey, and Gavin Guinn and baby Bentley Guinn that is due in November; and many other extended family members.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sodalis Elder Living and Scott and White Hospice for their loving care and perseverance. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.Alz.org.
