October 11, 1931 — September 14, 2020

Cleburne, Texas formerly of Waco

Art Sepeta passed away on September 14, 2020 in Cleburne, TX.  Art was born October 11, 1931 in Cleveland, OH to Theresa and Alois Sepetowski.

Art was raised in Cleveland where he excelled in basketball, baseball and ice hockey.  He graduated from Ohio University, where he met and married his college sweetheart Diane.  Commissioned a U.S. Army officer and trained as an artillery officer, Art and Diane were stationed at Fort Bliss and Fort Hood, TX.

Art started his career with General Motors at the New Departure-Hyatt Bearing Division in Sandusky, OH.  Art and Diane planted roots in Anderson, IN in 1965 when he was transferred to the Guide Lamp Division.  In the mid-1980s the two of them temporarily relocated to south Texas to assist in establishing manufacturing at the Rimir Operations in Matamoros, Mexico.

Art was active in volunteering with community affairs and raising their family.  Art always found the time to play basketball, baseball and football with the neighborhood kids.  When the weather permitted, countless hours were spent skating and playing ice hockey at the Conservation pond.

A former commissioner and umpire of Fairview Little League, Republican precinct committeeman, and attending Madison Heights High School sporting events were among his many favorite activities.  Later in life, Art applied his athletic skills to golf at Edgewood Country Club and self-taught wood carving.  Through the years, Art and Diane attended the Anderson First United Methodist Church where they volunteered at the community dinners and enjoyed many of the special events hosted by the church.

Art was preceded in death by his beloved wife Diane of 65 years.  Art and Diane raised three children, spoiled seven grandchildren, and worshipped three great-grandchildren. Art is survived by son Arthur and wife Linda (Millis) Sepeta (Alexandria, VA), two grandchildren Emily (Kailua-Kona, HI) and Matthew and his wife Kristin (Minneapolis, MN) and great-granddaughter Anna; his daughter Cindy and husband Mike Ellis (Lake Whitney, TX), three grandsons Shane, Zachary, and Justin and his wife Sara and two great-grandchildren Liam and Jane, who all live in TX;  and son Rick and wife Shelley (Wade) Sepeta (Evansville, IN), two grandchildren Lauren and her husband Will (Dallas, TX) and Michael (Okemos, MI)

Art is survived by sister Pat Ciulla, brothers-in-law Edward Cligrow and Gene (Dottie) Goebel, and sisters-in-law Annette Potnick and Sally Goebel.

Art was preceded in death by his parents Alois and Theresa Sepeta, his sister Elayne Cligrow, his in-laws Dorman and Wilma Goebel, brothers-in-law Dorman Goebel, Jr., Al Potnick and Joseph Ciulla, and a great grandson.

Art was the son of a Polish immigrant who came here and embraced the American Creed.  Art fulfilled his father’s dreams for a better life and left us as a Great American.
