Anthony Marco Manelis

January 18, 1984 — October 30, 2023

Lorena, Texas

Anthony Marco Manelis, 39, passed away on October 30, 2023, in the arms of his wife, Marcela, and with family lovingly surrounding him.

Born January 18, 1984, to Joseph and Naomi Manelis, Anthony lived a life driven by his generosity, curiosity, keen intellect, and integrity. Growing up, he loved the outdoors and enjoyed adventures with friends and traveled all over the United States and Europe with his family. After high school, Anthony lived out his passion of flying by attending helicopter flight school and received his helicopter pilot license. He received his Associate’s Degree at Southwestern College, then attended San Diego State University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS Degree in Criminal Justice. Anthony moved to Texas in 2016 where he worked in schools and commercial facilities. He initially worked as a technician, and over time with his enthusiasm for learning and strong work ethic, he advanced to Facilities Manager of multiple commercial kitchens.

Since childhood, Anthony was fluent in Spanish, which he proudly spoke with Marcela’s family and his coworkers. He was clever and filled with vast knowledge gained through his passions and life experiences. He was able to fix just about anything! And he loved teaching others, patiently explaining each step. Anthony was a remarkable cook and took great delight in preparing meals for his family and friends. Many of us benefited from this amazing talent! At times, Anthony was opinionated and headstrong, but that was his strength. You always knew what he was thinking and what he believed. He was always genuine and trustworthy. Anthony grew up going to church but it was in the last few years that he became deeply committed to his faith and grew in his walk with Christ. Anthony reflected Christ’s sacrificial love by being keenly aware of those in need around him. His generosity was experienced by many as he often and quickly rose to action to serve others above himself.

Anthony married the love of his life, Marcela Castillo-Manelis, on October 22, 2022. Marcela fell in love with Anthony’s adventurous spirit and servant heart. Anthony loved making Marcela laugh and they both agreed that finding each other was the best thing that ever happened to them. They loved spending time hiking and enjoying God’s creation. The friendship and love they shared was a true testament of the unity they had with one another.

Anthony passed away after courageously living with cancer. Anthony lived his life to the fullest and focused on “today,” especially on God’s promises and the things that brought lasting joy. He carried himself with dignity and grace, trusting God for strength.

Anthony will be missed dearly by his loving wife Marcela, his family, friends, and his loyal cat - Charlie Brown.
