Anthony Cervantez

Anthony Cervantez, a beloved member of the community, passed away on June 28, 2024, at a San Antonio, Texas Hospital. He was born in McAllen, Texas on December 5, 1958. Anthony had a fulfilling career and retired from the city of Austin Municipal Court after twenty years of dedicated service.

 In his early years, Anthony discovered a passion for sports, trail hiking at Cameron Park, and playing football until an injury at age 16. As an adult, he found joy in managing and coaching a co-ed softball team with the Austin City League. He also cherished music, concerts, hosting parties, and cooking with friends.

 Anthony was a proud alumnus of Waco High School and Baylor University where his commitment to learning shone through. Beyond his professional achievements, he will be remembered for his kind heart and love for bringing people together. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Rudy Cervantez Sr., along with his brothers Arnold Cervantez and infant Jeffrey Cervantez. Anthony is survived by his mother Lupita Bermea and her husband Tim Coppage of Waco; sister Lisa Mayes and her husband Robert of Waco; brother Rudy Cervantez Jr.; several aunts, uncles; nieces, nephews; as well as many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. 

Services to honor the life of Anthony Cervantez will be held at Grace Gardens Funeral Home & Crematorium in Woodway. A Visitation is scheduled for July 5, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM followed by a Graveside Service on July 6 starting at 10:00 AM at Oakwood Cemetery with Deacon Michael Marsili officiating. 

Pallbearers include Rudy Cervantez, Jr., Ed Hill, Chris Perez, Perry Boone, Chuck Scarbrough and Ricky Walts. 

In remembrance of Anthony's vibrant spirit and warm presence, may his legacy live on through all who had the privilege of knowing him. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Anthony’s caregiver, Rafael Vega, as well as special friends, Paula Veselka, Grant Teaff, Richard Friedli and Mark Davidson.
