Anna "Anne" Jinkins

August 2, 1932 — September 11, 2014

Anne passed into the arms of our Heavenly Father on September 11, 2014. Memorial services will be 10:30 Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Grace Episcopal Church, Galveston, TX with a reception following at Jinkins Hall.

Anne was born August 2, 1932 in Dallas, Texas into an Army family. She attended numerous schools and lived on many Army Posts in different states. She was proud to be an “Army Brat”. Anne's father retired from the military to Texas City following WWII. She finished high school with honors in Texas City. Anne's childhood desire was to become a nurse, but marriage and the raising of 3 children side-tracked that dream for a while. When her youngest entered school, Anne entered Baylor University in Waco. After 3 years she transferred to the McLennan College nursing program graduating with honors and an associate's degree in nursing. She quickly moved into ICU nursing finding the perfect place for her to share her gift of compassion and caring.

Anne found more happiness when she moved to Galveston and married Dr. Jack Jinkins. She easily made lifetime friendships in Galveston. Jack and Anne had 35 wonderful years together. After his retirement, they enjoyed many years of golfing, cruising, traveling, and family. Anne was quite active in Grace Episcopal Church, serving as altar guild directress, Eucharistic minister, lay reader, and Unction minster. She became a lay chaplain in the Community of Hope Ministry. In this ministry, she spent many hours at UTMB ministering to cancer patients. Anne was a member of the Monday Morning Bible Study, best ever bible study! She was a member of the Wednesday Mah Jongg group, a great group all about laughter and friendships. Anne loved gardening, particularly roses, cooking, aerobics, and being with her family and friends. She was active in many civic organizations over a period of years. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Anne felt very blessed to be surrounded by her loving family, friends, and the large number of people with whom she crossed paths. She will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Col. and Mrs. John B. Menard, her son, Michael Tabor, her, stepson J. L. Jinkins, III, and her two brothers Larry Menard and John Menard, Jr.

Anne leaves behind the love of her life, Dr. Jack Jinkins, two daughters, Vicki Tabor of Waco, and Dr. Debra Tabor and her partner, Donna Aversano, of Houston; two step daughters, Ana Alongi of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Ann Jinkins and her partner, Staci Hubbard, of Austin. She also leaves behind six wonderful grandchildren, four delightful great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Grace Episcopal Church, Galveston, Texas designated for Jinkins Hall or to the charity of your choice.
