Andy Back

Andy Back age 59, of Waco passed away Friday November 4, 2011 at a local care facility. Funeral Services will be 10AM Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim Gray officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8PM Monday, November 7, 2011 at Grace Gardens.

Andy was born December 25, 1951 in Staten Island, New York to Andrew and Marie Back. He graduated from Falls Church High School in Virginia then joined the US Air Force and served his country for four years which involved work on Air Force One. After his discharge from the Air Force he went to Sam Houston State University graduating with a degree in Business Administration. On April 13, 1974, he married his high school sweetheart Sandy Dennis. Andy worked for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier for twenty one years. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church Woodway where he taught children’s Sunday school. Andy had a deep love for the Lord and expressed that love in his everyday activities. In his free time, he loved to play golf and swim and was a big fan of baseball. His love of animals called him to become a docent at the Cameron Park Zoo where he taught children about them and spent many hours volunteering his time to better the facility. His grandsons were the light of his life and he cherished every moment spent with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Andy is survived by his wife Sandy of 37 years; a son Ryan and his wife Kimberly; two sisters Barbara Dougherty and her husband Jim and Brenda McDermott and her husband Paul; two grandchildren Cody and Justin.
