Andrew Roy Ramsey,82, of Lorena, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016. A funeral service will be 11a.m. on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Lorena, with Pastor Matt Bailey officiating with a burial at Waco Memorial Park. A visitation with the family will be from 6-8 pm on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016.

Andrew was born in Manchester Ohio on April 27, 1933 to James Louis and Anna Mae Ramsey. He graduated from Manchester High School in 1951 where he was an all star basketball player. He went to work in Cincinnati, Ohio right after high school and he was drafted in to the military service . While serving in the military he was stationed to the Killeen base and served as a Military Policeman. While stationed in Texas, he met and married his wife, Thelma Mae (Dykes) Ramsey from Georgetown, TX. They were married for 60 years. Their marriage blessed them with 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He received his Bachelors of Science from Miami University in Oxford, OH, his Masters of Psychological Counseling from East Texas State University. His career in serving others began as an art teacher and included, the Methodist Home, Texas State Rehabilitation Commission, and VA Regional Office from which he retired in 1993.He leaves behind a legacy of love and sacrificed service to others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters, and his eldest son, Rev. Brad Ramsey.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Thelma Ramsey , his daughters;Pam Murphy and husband David of Ennis, TX, Charlotte Oliverio of Waco, TX, Martha McGaugh and husband Mark of China Spring, TX and a son, Brian Ramsey of Lorena, TX. Grandchildren; Drew and Jenna Ramsey of Detroit MI, Lanisha Herrena, Aubrey Lusk , Amanda Salazzo, Haley Shelton, Victoria Ornelas, Jordan Oliverio, Grant McGaugh, Grace McGaugh and 8 great grand children along with many lifelong friends and church friends at Lorena Methodist Church.
