Andrew Mercer

Andrew A. Mercer age 85, of Waco passed away Saturday December 31, 2011 at a local hospital. Funeral Services will be 10:30AM Wednesday January 4, 2012 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8PM Tuesday January 3, 2012 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Andrew was born on February 14, 1926 in Lott, Texas to Aron and Doshie Mercer. He served in U.S. Army during World War II. He married Betty Cox on November 11, 1958. He was a member of Baylor Masonic Lodge #1235. He was a devout Christian and attended Full Gospel Assembly Church. The love of his life was his family. He lived for his children and grand children. He was musician, painter and contractor. He loved to play the guitar and harmonica. He enjoyed taking rides in the country, visiting places from the past and going out to eat with his family. He loved talking and never met a stranger. He touched a lot of lives and will never be forgotten.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Connie Irwin; 4 sisters and two brothers.

Andrew is survived by his wife Betty of 53 years; two sons David Mercer and his wife Linda and Bruce Mercer; two daughters Linda Milam and husband Ben and Rita Weins and husband Ken; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
