Alvin Posey

Alvin Posey Jr., 65, of Eddy, was called home on December 05, 2013. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Monday, December 09, 2013 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.

Alvin was born on July 25, 1948 to Alvin and Frances Posey. He grew up in Elm Mott and graduated from Connally High School in 1966. Upon graduation Alvin joined the United States Navy. After serving he began working for the Katy railroad as a dispatcher. Alvin also served as the Secretary of Eddy EMS. In January 2013 Alvin retired from the Waco Police Department after 22 years of service as the Dispatch Supervisor. Alvin was considered a hero by many and impacted the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a kind and compassionate man who helped anyone in need. Nothing made Alvin happier than being surrounded by his family. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Alvin enjoyed working as an EMT at youth rodeos and watching his grandchildren play sports. Everyone always gathered at Alvin’s house for holidays and summertime BBQ’s and swimming. Alvin never met a stranger and welcomed anyone into his home with open arms.

Alvin was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Posey, brother, Norman Posey and sister Beverly Nell Anderson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lucy Hargrove-Posey; son Andy Posey and wife Ashley; daughter Kathie Wright and husband Bill; step son Richard Hopper and wife Diana; step daughter Kathy Owens and husband Randy; step son Tim Hopper and wife Kris; step daughter Deanna Hargrove and step daughter Joanna Stephens and husband Ronnie; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and other blended family members.
