Allen Underwood

October 11, 1950 — June 25, 2017

Allen Lee Underwood passed away on June 25, 2017 . His funeral service will be held at Waco Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017.

He was born on October 11, 1950, and raised in Slaton Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972. While volunteering in Friday Night Missions with the Baptist Student Union he met his wife, Charmaine Whitley. Al and Charmaine were married on July 6, 1974. They missed celebrating their 43rd wedding anniversary by one week. Al was known for his strong work ethic and worked as a shopping center general manager throughout Texas, Louisiana, New York, and Georgia. He had a passion for history and a love of trains. Allen's sincere thoughtfulness was often expressed to friends and family through a handwritten note or letter. Throughout his lifetime, he was involved in many church activities - teaching Children's Sunday School and serving on various committees.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joyce Smith Underwood; his mother, Louisa Jeanne Underwood; his sister, Dianne Harrison; father-in-law, Robert Allen Whitley Sr. and brother-in-law, David Crowson.

Al is survived by his wife Charmaine Whitley Underwood, his daughter and son-in-law JJ and Jim Edge of Albany, Georgia, and his youngest daughter and son-in-law Robyn and Zachariah Done of Hampstead, North Carolina. He has two precious grandsons, J. Harris Edge and Thomas Done and a granddaughter due in December. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, a mother-in-law, a sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, an aunt and cousins.

Al loved the Lord and when thinking of him Colossians 3:12 comes to mind. "Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
