Ruth was born August 7, 1933, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania to George and Charlotte (Carson) Crawford. She grew up and attended school in and around the Philadelphia area.
Ruth married Philip Harold Beatty in 1959. The Beatty family grew and moved to Texas in 1964. Ruth did a variety of secretarial jobs over the years. In Longview, she worked part-time at LeTourneau College in the PE and Aviation Departments. While living in Shoreview, Minnesota, she worked at ConWed Plastics. When they retired to the Waco area, she worked part-time in the office of Fellowship Bible Church. Throughout the years her purpose and joy came from loving and serving God and her family.
Ruth used the gifts that God gave her of hospitality and service to minister to her family, friends, church, and strangers. She would invite LeTourneau College students and others over for lunch after church on Sundays. On several Thanksgivings, the ping pong table was used as an additional table for many students who could not make it home for the holidays. Ruth often hosted traveling missionaries and various church groups in her home. She taught Sunday School and worked in the church nursery regularly throughout her life. Her warmth, kindness, and faithfulness were perfectly suited to these ministries.
