A.D. Sorrells, Jr

A.D. Sorrells,Jr of Valley Mills passed away December 25, 2020 in Waco.
A.D. was the oldest of five children born to Inez Couch and Alvin Dewey Sorrells of Kaufman County Texas. He enlisted in the US Army Air Corp during World War II for pilot training later was transferred to turret gunner training. Once his military service ended he returned to Waco and was employed at a local bank. During the 1950s, he worked as a sales representative for Texas Coffin company and spent several years on the road selling in south Texas and the valley area. The 1960s brought a partnership with his brother Allen where they formed S & S Trenching company doing utility and excavation work in McLennan County. Their largest job being construction of the MCC campus. The 1970s brought new opportunities for him when he was made Director of car sales at Marstellar Motor. His time there brought many new friendships both state wide and locally. A.D.‘s later years were the fullest and most meaningful for him. He retired, then sought to get a CNA certification and spent his remaining life working in nursing homes and finally in ER at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center. His co-workers there became family to him.
A. D. was the kindest ,most loving old-school gentleman to ever grace the earth. He loved art, reading, books, and politics. He was passionate for children and helping others. He is survived by his sisters, Evelyn Sorrells and Donna Porter, both of Valley Mills, many nieces and nephews both great, and great – great!
