Lynette Muchow Baugh, cherished daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on January 22, 2024, at her home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 81 years old. Lynette’s heart overflowed with love, and she felt the warmth of that love from her family and friends as she transitioned to be with our Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven. “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” 1 John 4:7-8.
Lynette was born on March 8,1942, in Waco, Texas to Edwin and Lennie Muchow. Growing up as an only child, she shared a special bond with her parents. She aspired to create this same type of caring bond with her own family. She was a proud native Wacoan, attending Gurley Elementary School and graduating from Waco High School in 1960. Lynette remained connected to her roots, attending almost every high school reunion.
Her love story with Jarod Baugh, began when a neighbor of Lynette’s introduced them, blossomed into a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, and wonderful moments. They married on June 17, 1960, and the newlyweds took off for California. Jarod’s career required them to live in many places like Sacramento, CA, Cincinnati, OH, and several Texas cities like Dallas and Houston, but their hearts returned them to Waco where they spent most of their life. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, love, and wonderful memories joined by three daughters, Leann, Lori, and Lindy. Her daughters were her proudest achievements, whom she raised with love, respect, kindness, and a strong emphasis on faith and life-long learning. She taught them to be resilient and independent and to remember, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Lynette's passion for life extended beyond her roles as a wife and mother. She found joy in cooking, antiquing, volunteering, and engaging with her community. Her involvement in various organizations, including the First United Methodist Church of Hewitt, Lakewood Christian Church in Waco, her women’s sorority, and the Historic Waco Foundation, reflected her commitment to serving others and making a positive impact wherever she went. Lynette never met a stranger.
As Lynette's journey on earth comes to an end, her memory lives on in the hearts of her beloved husband, her devoted daughters, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she may be gone, her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire and uplift generations to come. In celebrating Lynette's life, let us remember her for the extraordinary woman she was—a beacon of light, love, and hope in a world that she touched with grace and compassion.
Lynette leaves behind her beloved husband of nearly 64 years, Jarod Baugh; three daughters, Leann Kurzner (Jeff), Lori Baugh, and Lindy Ermoian (Chris); and four grandsons, Jarod Kurzner (Samantha Surath), Kyle Kurzner (Katie Contorakes), Grant Kurzner (Marie), and Alex Ermoian.
A visitation to celebrate Lynette's life will be held at Grace Gardens on Friday, March 8, from 4-6 p.m. The family will hold a private graveside service to place her ashes in the family plot at Rosemound Cemetery.
